DOLE Urges Private Companies to Release 13th-Month Pay Without Delay

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued a fresh reminder to all private-sector employers to ensure the timely release of the mandatory 13th-month pay. Under Presidential Decree 851, all rank-and-file employees—regardless of their position, employment status, or how they are paid—are entitled to receive this benefit, as long as they have worked for at least one month within the calendar year.

DOLE emphasized that the 13th-month pay must be given no later than December 24, allowing workers to prepare for holiday expenses and year-end financial needs. Failure to comply may result in penalties, labor complaints, or inspections by the department.

The agency also encouraged employees who experience delays or non-payment to report concerns to DOLE regional offices or through official hotlines for proper assistance.
